  • Acting Principal during COVID, keeping up-to-date with changing legislation.

  • SENCo including manage Learning Assistants, write and implement IEPs, liaise with outside organisations and whānau and attending Kahui Ako learning support hui.

  • Manage budgets for curriculum areas I have lead - Mathematics, Health and Physical Education, IT, PB4L

  • School operations and organisation including NOVOPay, organise and manage school-wide and school community events, reporting to BoT

  • Oversee implementation of assessment and curriculum planning. Collaborate with senior leaders and principal to implement effective learning and assessment programmes that meet the needs of students.

  • Work closely with the principal and ensure effective communication with the principal, staff, students, community and the Board of Trustees. 

  • Lead staff meetings and provide professional development in Information Technology, Positive Behaviour 4 Learning (PB4L), Health and Physical Education and Māori initiatives including the establishment of Bilingual classes and implementation of the re-formed curriculum.

  • Support and advise staff, students and whānau. Support pastoral care of students and transition.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate Te Ao Māori into school wide planning.

  • Develop and implement effective school-wide communication systems through the development and management of a school intranet. Manage and maintain school intranet and website.

  • Lead student placement and student leadership programmes such as Student Council and House leaders.

  • Work with other schools, iwi and agencies to develop localised curriculum and culturally responsive practice.

  • Implement and deliver induction programme for new staff ensuring school values are upheld and new staff feel comfortable and welcome in their new school.

  • Provide support and guidance for beginning teachers.

  • Implemented the Fish Philosophy - a positive school culture through a range of strategies including working with a team of people to encourage the use of the Fish Philosophy, leading staff meetings and modelling the Fish Philosophy - Choose your attitude, Be present, Make their Day and Play.

  • Deliver specialist Media programme in 2013 in a collaborative teaching environment.

  • Support staff to be innovative in their teaching and learning e.g. Play Based Learning, Structured Literacy, PR1ME Maths, ANZHC, IT and Te Reo Māori

In 2009, I took a career break from teaching to pursue my passion for IT, with a particular focus on Apple technologies. During this time, I had the opportunity to visit schools nationwide and collaborate with teachers in classroom settings. While this experience was invaluable, I missed being part of a school community and returned to teaching in 2012.
